MULTAN,Nov 19th: Thousands of people related to marriage halls and other associated businesses have demanded the Punjab government avoid implementing time limit of 10pm for marriage ceremonies. They said the Punjab Assembly had passed a resolution under which marriage ceremonies would not be allowed after 10pm. However, they said, the Sindh government had allowed marriage ceremonies to take place till 12am (midnight) and the Punjab government should follow the step. They said the PA resolution has raised concerns among the stakeholders associated with the businesses related to the marriage ceremonies, i.e. marriage hall owners, caterers and decorators. Mian Muhammad Ilyas, president of the Marriage Hall Association, said the decision, if implemented, would badly affect the business of 400 marriage halls and about 2,000 caterers and ultimately, the burden would be shifted to people and the families associated with such businesses.
He said the association and all those associated with marriage ceremonies unanimously agreed to not to follow any draconian law of the government and would agitate over any such decision.
