MULTAN,Feb 5th: More than a dozen rallies were organized in Multan city by different Political parties, civil society, women and lawyers to join hands on Friday Feb 5 to voice for the right of self determination for the Jammu & Kashmir people and to support their just and principled struggle. The demonstrators burnt the flags of Israel, India and United States and also effigies of heads of three countries. The major rally was jointly organized by Jamaat Islami, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Shabab-i-Milli, Jamiat Talaba-i-Islam, Jamiat Talaba-i-Arabia and Kissan Board which was attended by 2000 people and led by Mian Maqsood Ahmed, Dr.Nasim Akhtar, Dr.Ashraf Atique, Rao Zafar Iqbal.They also made a human chain from Hussain Agahi to Ghanta Ghar. Jamaat Islami women wing also organized a rally led by Dr.Zahid Younas, Rafia Fatima, and Fauzia Irfan. Mutahidda Shehri Mahaz and Pakistan Muslim League-N also organized another big rally led by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Tariq Naeem-ullah Khan to re-pledge their solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu & Kashmir in a dignified manner on this occasion.All shopping centers ,Markets and Bazars remained closed. Muslim league-women wing also organized a rally from Chungi No.9 to LMQ road led by Begum Sultana Shaheen and Begum Shaheen Shafiuque.
The day dawned with special prayers in the mosques at namaz-a-Fajr coupled with the offering of Fateha for the martyrs of Kashmir and for the early success of Kashmir liberation movement.A five-minute silence was observed all across Pakistan to pay homage to Kashmir martyrs at 10.00 a.m. Javed Hashmi said we are observing with renewed pledges and commitments to continue diplomatic, moral and political support to Jammu Kashmir people in their just and principled demand for the achievement of the right to self-determination and the cause of Kashmir.
